April Slotsve

April serves as the Director of Education and Practice for the College of Alberta Dental Assistants. The Director of Education and Practice is responsible for the development, implementation and review of professional standards that define quality dental assisting practice in Alberta. This portfolio includes Program Approval, the Continuing Competence Program as well as Professional Practice. April has been a registered dental assistant for more than twenty years after her earlier career in geology. She has previously worked in private practice, served as Program Coordinator for Continuing Dental Education at the University of Alberta, and she was Dental Assisting Program Head at a college institute. She has had the opportunity to serve on various committees and boards including the Alberta Federation of Regulated Health Professionals, the National Oral Health Working Group during the pandemic, the Dental Assisting National Occupational Analysis committee, advisory committees for all Alberta Dental Assisting programs and for the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada.
