
Jennifer Tewes
Jennifer Tewes is a professional regulator. She has over 20 years of experience in oral health care regulation and is committed to serving and protecting the public interest. Presently she is the Registrar & Chief Executive Officer at the College of Alberta Dental Assistants. As the sole employee of the College’s Council, she was appointed by and is directly accountable to the whole of Council for regulatory and policy compliance and the overall corporate/business affairs of the College. She works extensively with the College’s Council and committees and oversees a staff of 10.
Connected to her regulatory role, Jennifer is actively involved the Alberta Federation of Regulated Health Professions. She attends Board meetings, served one term on their Executive Committee, and has participated for several years in their interest groups for Program Approval, Registration, and Competence. Also connected to her regulatory role, Jennifer recently completed 5 years as Chair of the Canadian Dental Assisting Regulatory Authorities Board. She remains on the Board.
Jennifer is a current Director, and Past President, of the National Dental Assisting Examining Boar (NDAEB). With 10 plus years of Board and committee experience with the NDAEB, they nominated her to serve on the CDAC Board. She also has 10 plus years of previous experience with CDAC, serving on several dental assisting program accreditation survey teams, the Commission, and various committees.
Through her experience and positive approaches to relationships and collaboration Jennifer has developed expertise in board governance, implementing legislation and developing policy. Driven by curiosity and an open mind, the sharing of information and expectations, teamwork, and results, she has a proven track record for leading teams across Canada.
